Derogation from the rules of origin to take account of the special situation of Mauritius with regard to salted snoek

On 5 May 2020 the ESA-EU Customs Cooperation Committee adopted Decision No 1/2020 granting a derogation from the rules of origin with regard to 100 tonnes of salted snoek imported into the Union from 5 May 2020 to 4 May 2021 in accordance with Article 42(1) of Protocol 1 to the interim EPA.

On 5 May 2020 the ESA-EU Customs Cooperation Committee adopted Decision No 1/2020 granting a derogation from the rules of origin with regard to 100 tonnes of salted snoek imported into the Union from 5 May 2020 to 4 May 2021 in accordance with Article 42(1) of Protocol 1 to the interim EPA. The derogation would contribute to the development of small and medium size enterprises in Mauritius and would allow diversification of the Mauritian seafood sector (see OJ L 152 of 15.5.2020, p. 21).
