Member of the European Parliament since 2014, Paul Tang has been Chairman of the FISC Subcommittee since its inception in 2020. Originally from the Dutch Partij van de Arbeid (PvdA), he sits in the Socialists and Democrats group.
With a doctorate in economics from the University of Amsterdam, Paul Tang first worked at the Dutch Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis. He has also worked in the ministry of Finance before being elected to the Dutch House of Representatives in 2006, where he dealt with fiscal and financial policies.
Paul Tang is known for his progressive views on the economy and social justice, and has worked on issues such as the fight against tax evasion and the regulation of digital giants. He has also done a lot on sustainable finance over the past years.
