High-Level meeting between EU Customs administrations and Border Guards - an important step towards a more effective cooperation

A High-Level meeting on further development of cooperation between Customs Administrations and Border Guards took place on 18 October 2017 in Overijse, Belgium.

The collaboration between these two communities, which has a long standing history, has a direct impact on the well-functioning of border management and the international supply chain at the EU external borders.

The event brought together high-level representatives of both communities to identify innovative and sustainable solutions to increase the safety and security, whilst enabling the movement of persons and goods in the EU.

In addition, the High-Level meeting was used to summarise results of the evaluation of the cooperation between Customs Administrations and Border Guards and to present and discuss the revised guidelines.

The recent developments at the external borders of the EU pose significant challenges to the Member States and to the EU institutions. This High-Level meeting is another important step in strengthening the cooperation between our administrations.
