How I can access the EU Customs Trader Portal?

Who needs to access EU Customs Trader Portal?

All the economic operators who:

  • have Binding Tariff Information (BTI) decisions;
  • plan to apply for a BTI decision after 1 October 2019;
  • represent a company having or applying for a BTI decision.

Note that Germany, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Croatia and Poland host a national BTI system and offer a national trader portal.

How I can access the EU Customs Trader Portal?

You can access the EU Customs Trader Portal via the internet using this link or the website of your national customs authority. Access to the EU Customs Trader Portal is validated and managed through the Uniform User Management and Digital Signature System (UUM&DS).

What do you need to do in advance?

  1. You need to apply for an Economic Operators Registration and Identification (EORI) number from your national customs administration if you do not have it already.
  2. You need to request a user account and password for the identification and authorisation service of the EU Customs Trader Portal. This process is decentralised to the national administrations of each Member State: economic operators can request, in the Member States Customs office responsible for managing economic operators, a user account and password for accessing the EU Customs Trader Portal.
  3. Connect to the EU Customs Trader Portal and introduce the email address for receiving BTI-related notifications in your preferences under the user menu by clicking on the user icon.

What are the benefits of using the EU Customs Trader Portal?

  • you can apply for a BTI decision;
  • you receive notifications, for example if your BTI decision is no longer valid;
  • you can browse and access your valid BTI decisions;
  • authorised representatives can access their clients’ BTI decisions.
