International cooperation
The EU helps set global standards to ensure high and equivalent standards in risk management at international level:
- Safe Framework of Standards, under the World Customs Organisation (WCO), to secure and facilitate global trade
- WCO Compendium for Customs Risk Management
- Tax Transparency and Cooperation
Contact groups
Under the Customs Union and the single market, cooperation between customs and tax authorities is crucial. Checks must be as efficient as possible at points of entry into the EU. Contact groups aim to increase cooperation and coordination between customs and tax administrations at the EU’s external border.
