Simon Loretz is a Senior Economist and is working since 2017 in the research group "Macroeconomics and Public Finance" at WIFO. Previously, he was Senior Economist at the Institute for Advanced Studies, Academic Councillor at the University of Bayreuth, Research Fellow at the Oxford University Centre for Business Taxation and Research Assistant at the University of Innsbruck. He completed his PhD at the University of Innsbruck and habilitated at the University of Bayreuth. In addition to his academic background, he is involved in a variety of national and international research projects. He is scientific coordinator for a framework contract with the European Commission, DG TAXUD, to do economic analyses on taxation. His research interests include international taxation, tax competition and tax harmonisation, fiscal federalism and applied microeconometrics.
